Viper’s yo-yoing lifeline looks to be finally secured after ailing parent company Chrysler said the sports car maker was no longer for sale. Rather than killing off its muscle-bound brand, last summer Cerberus-run Chrysler considered selling off the rights to the Viper, hoping to achieve around $10m for the Detroit assembly plant and brand equity to bolster its dwindling cash reserves and stave off imminent bankruptcy. After an initial surge of interest from similar-minded companies like Roush and Saleen, curiosity nosedived along with the global economy.
Mercedes A-Class E-Cell
Mercedes has confirmed that it to add a third production electric model to its range, with the Mercedes A-Class E-Cell going in to production. What? There are already two electric Mercedes in production?
Mercedes-Benz will introduce a new M-class crossover in September with a curvier exterior, more power and slightly better fuel economy. In the United States, the 2012 M-class will be offered beginning with two models -- the gasoline ML350 V-6 and the ML350 Bluetec diesel. Both models will feature four-wheel drive.
